SGS Helps CNCOB Secure German ZEREZ System Registration for Photovoltaic Inverters
Recently, SGS, the internationally recognized testing, inspection, and certification body, helped CNCOB's photovoltaic inverters successfully complete the German ZEREZ system registration. Launched by the German government in 2024 to enhance the safety and reliability of the power system, ZEREZ is a unified certification and registration system for power generation units and components. Since its introduction, the system has become an essential tool for grid connection, assisting grid operators, certification bodies, and manufacturers in efficiently managing equipment certification information.
The German authorities have issued a new regulation stating that from February 1, 2025, all units and components of photovoltaic and energy storage systems in Germany must be registered in the ZEREZ system. Equipment that has not been registered will be ineligible for grid connection. The new rule requires that low-voltage systems primarily register inverters, while medium-, high-, and ultra-high-voltage systems require registration for a wider array of components, along with full system certification. Upon registration, equipment receives a unique ZEREZ-ID, which operators simply submit to the grid operator to complete certification verification.
Facing Germany's new energy policies and shifts in the renewable energy market, SGS proactively addressed CNCOB's need for market access. During the project, both teams collaborated closely. The SGS technical team provided detailed assessment and guidance on the certification materials provided by CNCOB, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the registration information. Through diligent follow-up, CNCOB's photovoltaic inverters completed the ZEREZ system registration ahead of the official deadline, securing a first-mover advantage in a competitive market.
Looking ahead, SGS will continue to monitor market demands and technical challenges, providing CNCOB with further quality solutions and comprehensive support. Through innovation and professionalism, we will jointly accelerate the adoption and application of new energy products and promote the sustainable development of the global power industry.
